When love and
denial pushes one girl to suicide; I rate this movie 6 out 10. Lost and Delirious is centered on three
girls at an all-girl boarding school. The movie is shown in the perspective of
Mary who realizes that her roommates are in love with each other.
She watches
Paulie and Tory romance while they think she's sleeping. Mary is clearly a voyeur;
an odd one as a matter of fact at first. The movie goes along alright until
Victoria’s, starts seeing a guy. From there it’s a torturous trip as Paulie
attempts to win back her love. Paulie is a rebel; the stereotypical bad girl
that smokes and does daring things that sometimes her actions are near psychotic.
The
movie tries to be symbolic and powerful, but by being symbolic it takes
away from the realism. Paulie is too sensitive. She is a victim; she's an orphan; when she locates her biological mother, she asked that Paulie never
contact her again.
The film over emphasizes her emotional state by letting her analyze the pain through poetry in class and nursing a wounded bird while she falls apart so that
we can be soaked with her agony.
When Tory and Paulie are caught
asleep in the same bed by Tory’s younger sister, Tory makes excuses about the
relationship and distances herself from Paulie. Tory then begins a relationship with a
young man from a neighboring school pushing Paulie further into turmoil. She challenged the young fight to a sword fight in the woods that she actually won. Poor guy got slashed and had to be rescued by his friends.
She evens disrespected Tory’s father
at a Father Daughter dance, Paulie was obsessive.

What I despised most; Tory was able to be nonchalant and deceitful with her feelings; just another not so straight girl
that took the lesbian’s emotions for a joy ride.
The movie is
slow in parts but never really boring, and at times is extremely good. Lost and Delirious isn't the greatest
movie, but as it nears climax, it becomes very powerful especially when Paulie
commits suicide and an awry music sounds in the background, the wounded eagle
finally flew, that shot was heartbreaking and beyond eerie.
